Hula

The Toyota Hiace Commuter/SLWB is a super popular van, and for good reason. Practical, reliable, attractive, and solid; we aimed to create a beautiful fit-out that would live up to the Van’s reputation.

Hula’s name is an ode to the Pineapple Traders ‘Hula girl Brass knobs’ used in this build. We based the design around a Tasmanian oak roof and features with rattan and more brass finishes spread around to tie it all together.

Hula was designed with openness and spaciousness in mind. Holding a full queen-sized mattress, we utilised the space beneath the large bed system with 2 drawers and a slide out table from the rear, a clothes drawer and cabinet at the front and a hidden  but accessible electrical compartment.

Other features include a huge slide out kitchen, overheads, bedside cabinet, full off gird 12v solar system, 110 litre stand up fridge and a hand pumping tap + large sink with  water flowing in and out from dirty and clean storage tanks below.
